João Santos: «Game with V. Setúbal will be complicated»

João Santos, PLAYERS OF FUTURE coach, is confident of a good result against V. Setúbal in a match counting for the 11th round of Series B of the National Junior Championship B but has no doubts in highlighting the difficulties that await his young team who occupy fifth place with three more points than the Sadinos and are the second least leaked defense in the competition (12 goals conceded), behind Sporting (9).

- V. Setúbal is this Saturday's opponent. Difficulties in sight?

- Yes. I foresee a very difficult game as the whole championship has been and will be. The teams are very balanced and every week there are surprises... V. Setubal's team is very strong, a generation that I know well and I have no doubt that it will be a very complicated game for both teams. It will be a game decided by details.

- Did the defeat with Benfica affect the morale of the players?

- We didn't change, nor did we stop focusing every week on working to obtain the best possible result. We were sadder because we deserved another result that they didn't let us achieve, but these are things we can't control and now it's time to try to get back to winning ways this Saturday.

- Any absence due to injury/punishment?

- The team is almost at full strength, some are recovering from injuries, but we are going into the game with a very competitive and balanced team. It's a reflection of the squad, being prepared for these situations.

- Casa Pia is the second best defense in the series with 12 goals conceded... is it the team's strong point?

- It's a factor that we bet a lot on, if we don't concede goals, we win the game, as the team creates a lot of opportunities and we have to be quite balanced defensively. The team has improved a lot since pre-season and we managed to make the players understand how they have to play in this context. It is also due to the learning capacity of our players who have evolved a lot. Let's hope we continue to defend well, and concede few or no goals in each game we play.

- Clearance objective remains untouchable?

- The main objective continues to be what the management asked us to do, the maintenance of the 1st National Division. We have our feet firmly planted and we don't want to create expectations that could put some pressure on the players and technical team. We will go game by game to look for the best possible result and if we are among the top four the objective will be achieved in advance.
